Inserting the daggerboards
This needs some getting used to :)
When inserting the daggerboard, make sure the line for putting the board down (which is inserted with a knot in the middle of the board) is guided through the little block FIRST. When the board is in., there is no way of getting the line throuhg. When inserting the board, keep the line tight by pulling it so the line will stay in the cut out rail of the board. When the line gets out of this cut out, the board will get stuck.
This is how the pull-up line should look like
When the line is not run through the block first you are in trouble
The second line is to move the board completely down to prevent problems when in harbor. This line can easily be setup when the board is already in.
Boards completely down makes sure you won't accidently hit shore objects
Both lines runs through an eye in the middle of the outer hull through a double block on the rear beam back to the cockpit and use one of the two ways to stop them shown below. The blocks on the rear are more reliable and easier to quickly release, so use them for what is most important for you: to keep the boards down (for me it was) or keep them up.
For beaching, the pull-up line will not give enough shallowness. Of course you can pull the boards out completely, but this is a lot of hassle. I usually pulled them up manually just far enough like in the picture below and put a thin piece of line between the board and its case to make sure the boards stay up like this.
