Videos

If the real thing is not an option, video's are a good way to get an impression of trimaran sailing. Unfortunately, not many good movies can be found on the net (yet). I can imagine this a bit now, since when you really enjoy fast sailing on a small boat, there is not much time to take a camera and shoot some moving pictures. Nevertheless I managed to shoot a bit of material, and although a bit shaky sometimes, you might get a picture of sailing on Carenata.

Between the beachcats

This one is the scariest. For me that is. Sailing single handed between a field of beach cats, lots of wind and too much sail. I should have reefed already. Somehow I had the nerve to put the boat on autopilot and grab my camera. Lots of spray, speed between 14 and 20 knots. Super exciting!

Ijburg run

This one is the first movie we made. In light winds, we reached 17 knots on the gps. That's pretty exciting if you've never been above 10 knots on a sailing boat.

Autopilot

I made this video when I was testing the autopilot. An autopilot on such a small boat seems odd, but I found it very handy when sailing single handedly. You can easily walk forward to do something or just sit on the outrigger and enjoy the (better) view. That's where the remote control comes to good use.

Easy sailing

In light winds I use the 25m2 Gennaker with great pleasure. Without fuss, the big sail propels the Catri above 10 knots as can be seen here. In these conditions, the trampolines are a safe and dry place to be.

Moving terrace

When it is too hot to do anything on land, Carenata is our friend. The large trampolines provide ample sunbathing real estate. Even now, 5-6 knots speed is easily achievable. The course is remote controlled.
