About 'Carenata'

Carenata is italian for streamlined so I think this is a suitable name for this boat.

It really does look a bit like an airplane...

The boat is a Catri 23, of which 4 (or maybe) 5 were made during the period between 2000 and 2002.
Carenata is hull number #3. It is a trailerable, foldable trimaran with some interior space for two.

A special feature of all Catri trimarans are the foil daggerboards. The two daggerboards are placed in the outriggers in a v-shape and have a winged profile. This way the foils generate lift which results in higher speed and prevent pitch-poling. At beam reach, you can really feel the transition when the Catri lifts up at about 10 knots and then quickly accelerates to 15 knots and suddenly feeling very light and sporty.

Apart from the foils, because of it's light weight and tall rig, Carenata is a fast trimaran. The mainsail measures 24m2, the jib is 12m2. For light weather a 25m2 genaker is provided that takes the Catri to speeds that exceed the wind speed itself.
